Happy Friday! The boys and girls worked on a word search about the new year as well as their Snapshots of Winter Break for morning work. Then, they took the Unit 15 Spelling Test. The super bonus word was opportunity.
Cadence shared her Student of the Week board. We learned that she would like to be a vet when she grows up, she has visited Yellowstone National Park and Mt. Rushmore, and a dream of hers is to fly.
We read and discussed the book A New Coat for Anna.. It takes place in Europe right after World War II. Ask your child for details. He/she should have a chart of trades made by Anna's mother to help retell the story.
During math, the students solved problems involving number comparisons. During recess and transitions, the students created problems by annoying each other and testing the patience of their teacher. I think we all should use the weekend to hit the reset button! :)
Following library, we read Stranger in the Snow and then the students made bird feeders using pine cones, vegetable shortening, and bird seed. Being kind whenever possible means being kind to animals, too! If you did not get a chance to hang the feeder outside today, it would be best to put it in the refrigerator until you can do so.
Our last lesson of the day involved using our Map Champ Atlas books to learn more about Europe. Ask your child to name the smallest country in the world and tell you where it is located!
We will return to Lifeline Theatre to see another play next Tuesday.
