After completing a morning work paper about odd numbers, the first graders worked in their field trip books. They added their chapters about the play Bunnicula and rewrote their chapters about the secret field trip.
During our second writing session later in the day, we wrote about our trip to see A Christmas Carol. We came up with impressive sets of words to describe the kind of day it was, the theatre, the chandeliers, and the Christmas tree. We did the same for the main characters, but with an emphasis on character traits. Ask your child for words we decided suited Ebenezer Scrooge, the Ghost of Jacob Marley, the Spirit of Christmas Past, the Spirit of Christmas Present, and the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come.
The first graders learned about services during financial literacy and reviewed place value during math. After P.E., we continued exploring the levels of liquids in containers. Finally, we read our next story in Junior Great Books: Under the Lemon Moon.
Our Pajama Drive ends tomorrow.
The first graders will also visit the Holiday Market tomorrow.
Here are some reminders:
*Help your child create a shopping list & discuss budget
*Average gift price is $3 (range $1-$10), but amazing bargains can be found in Granny's Attic
*Kids should bring money in a marked envelope with their name on it. Small bills and coins only, please. They should bring their own shopping tote, too!
