The Question of the Day was: Have you ever been afraid? Several of the boys have apparently never been afraid!
We finished reading Flat Stanley today. Ask your child what Arthur did with the bicycle pump! There will be Flat Stanley-related activities still to come next week.
We reviewed the letters covered so far in our D'Nealian handwriting book and learned how to write the letters h and k. Both are made with one stroke and pull down from the top.
During math, we looked for patterns in hundreds charts. We even used a chart that ended in 1,000. The students counted by fives, tens, and hundreds.
The specials classes of the day were ASL and Art. Excluding friends when playing outside is a problem we are still working on. We had a discussion about this after lunch recess and read the book Strictly No Elephants. Ask your child about it!
We used information in our research logs to compare properties of solids and liquids. We tested solids to see if they had the property of sinking or floating. A property of liquids is that their surface is always level to the ground. The boys and girls used some of our liquids in bottles to observe this as they tipped the bottles over. They then drew what they observed.
In preparation for our trip to Drury Lane Theatre tomorrow, we read a kid-friendly version of A Christmas Carol. The play we are seeing is an adaptation for younger audiences, but some students might be a little scared during parts of the play. They may hold their partner's hand to feel better!
We currently have 20 pajamas in our Pajama Drive! Please send in donations by Friday. Thank you!
Don't forget to send your child with a lunch from home tomorrow. We will eat in the classroom after we return from our trip. Also, students should dress elegantly! I know this may be a stretch for some of the boys, but I'd like to see the lads dress a bit spiffier than usual for this special occasion. :) Thank you!
