What a beautiful day for the Bell Walk! Thank you for supporting this fun fundraiser. The first graders had a blast walking/running around the course on the south playground. We are keeping our fingers crossed that Room 104 leaps ahead from second to first place in donations so we can participate in a color run, too! However, no matter what amount you are able to give, thank you for your generosity.
Other more sedentary events of the day included working on our plant life cycle dioramas, forging ahead on our Shapes PowerPoint projects in the computer lab, and completing a spelling practice worksheet. The boys and girls also watched a short video about suburban, urban, and rural communities. They then identified characteristics of each of these types of communities by creating a flap book. Ask your child what features he/she decided belonged with each type of community (and why!). The first graders also worked on their plant life cycle projects and world map projects.

Last, but not least, we heard the first Stella Story of the Year. Stella Dino is now making home visits. She is very excited to visit each of the first graders. After each visit, the student whom Stella chose will share her adventures with the class. By the end of the year, Stella Dino's favorite book bin will have another book all about her!
We will do more walking tomorrow on our field trip to the neighborhood firehouse!
