The Question of the Day was: Are you ready to be on stage this afternoon? Morning work was another arithmagon puzzle paper. We also began adding Fibonacci numbers to our new Fibonacci Sequence bulletin board. I wonder how far we will get!
The boys and girls completed a Unit 34 spelling practice paper. After this, we continued reading and later finished, the book The Hoboken Chicken Emergency. The first graders also shared what they were wearing to represent their future selves as well as read aloud their chapters about the future from their autobiographies.
The specials class of the day was library. A few students still have library books at home. Notes were sent home about this. Please send any overdue books back as soon as possible.
Today's Inner Explorer practice was about being comfortably quiet. After this, we moved on to math. The students determined whether they were squares or rectangles by working with a partner to measure their heights and arm spans. If both measures are the same, you are a square and if not, you are a rectangle. According to the first grade ruler-wielders, most of them were rectangles. You may wish to repeat this activity at home to see if you get the same results!
The big event of the day was the Climb to Safety assembly about financial literacy. The students looked awesome on stage and were super excited to perform for all the guests in the auditorium. Even without the expected risers on the stage or a properly working microphone, the first through third graders successfully presented an informative and entertaining show about financial literacy. If you attended and took photos, please post them on our Shutterfly site so that those who were not able to be here can get a peek at what took place. Thank you very much!
Tomorrow is Character Day and Family Fine Arts Night.
