Happy Tuesday! The Question of the Day was: Would you like to visit Antarctica? The boys and girls used their Miss Rumphius books to help them complete a vocabulary worksheet for Morning Work. We then moved on to writing tasks. First, the students practiced the uppercase D'nealian letters U, H, and K. Then, they selected what they considered to be important events for the month of April and wrote about them for their First Grade Memory Books.
Inner Explorer practice focused on being Comfortably Quiet. Everyone was able to be quiet, though I don't think everyone was comfortably quiet! Specials classes of the day were ASL and Library.
During math, the boys and girls worked on their money skills as they determined the value of set of coins. We read the book Without You to learn how emperor penguins survive in Antarctica. There will be a project based on this book during our next social studies class.
Tommy and Gabriel turned the eggs in the incubator today. We learned that on Day 14 the embryo is beak-clapping inside the eggshell! Besides writing about the developments inside the egg, the boys and girls added other chicken projects to their egg books.
There will be several specials classes tomorrow and a guest teacher. I will see everyone on Thursday!
