The boys and girls continued working on their Good Student posters this morning. We then moved on to spelling practice exercises. A fire drill went pretty well; I am sure we will all take the process seriously next time! (See the sentiment expressed above..)
The hermit crab project continued this morning. The first graders rewrote their mini-stories on another paper and then created hermit crab artwork to accompany the writing. Ask your child to describe his/her hermit crab creation! You will soon be able to see the projects on display in the hallway outside the classroom.
Following Quiet Time and P.E., the boys and girls prepared their research logs to hold information, observations, and results of many science investigations. We wrote the first brassica plant observations together. Tomorrow, the first graders will write part of their plant observations independently.
During social studies, we revisited the Me on the Map concept introduced yesterday. The boys and girls began creating flip books that will show themselves, their school, their city, their state, their country, their continent, and their planet.
The first graders will receive reading books tomorrow. We will also begin working in our handwriting books.
