The Question of the Day was: Would you like to act on stage in the play A Christmas Carol? Morning work was a phonics page about short vowel sounds. The specials class of the day was P.E. We read the third chapter of Flat Stanley. Ask your child about the "wallpaper" and the kite incidents. Also, how did Arthur and Stanley feel at different times in this chapter?
Mr. Kosko dropped in as we began investigating liquids. The students made observations about the properties of a set of liquids. They were introduced to the concepts of viscosity and translucence. Ask your child how a viscous liquid moves and how you can tell if something is translucent.
Today's math lesson focused on patterns and skip counting. During social studies, we read Rainforest by Helen Cowcher. The students completed a map worksheet about the Amazon rain forest and learned about some foods that come from the rain forest.
We focused on adjectives when we wrote a description of our trip to the theatre yesterday. Ask your child to tell you words that could be used to describe the following characters: Ebenezer Scrooge, the ghost of Jacob Marley, and the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. The boys and girls will use the ideas we generated together in class to write the next chapter of their field trip books.
We will continue learning about liquids and the rain forest tomorrow!
