Happy Field Trip Day! The Question of the Day was: Do you read comic books? The boys and girls completed a spelling practice paper for morning work. After this, the first graders participated in a writing lesson about subjects and predicates. Cards with parts of sentences were distributed. Hilarity ensued. Ask for details!
Following a long vowels assessment in Phonics, we went outside for recess. Then it was time for an early lunch before boarding the bus for our field trip. We saw Dog Man: The Musical. The production was based on the graphic novel Dog Man: A Tale of Two Kitties by Dav Pilkey. It was an energetic show filled with heroes and villains. When the boys and girls finished their snacks they created their own comic-style chapter about the trip for their field trip books. The students added speech bubbles for dialogue, drawings of the characters with a variety of facial expressions, and text to keep the action moving from beginning to end.
We will begin a new earth materials investigation tomorrow.
