Happy Wednesday! The first graders joined me for our morning meeting at 8:15 today. We began with some unsolicited stuffy sharing. 😄 We also filled in gumball #164 in our gumball machines and wrote 164 in Roman numerals. A special thank you goes out to Ms. Jensen for demonstrating the importance of checking one's work.
The Fun Fact of the Day was that a Scrabble board has 164 blank squares. We also had a Joke of the Day: Why do bananas use sunscreen? Because they peel! As you can see in the morning message, I challenged the students to run today--bonus points for doing it while outside and smiling! After working with a diagram of the life cycle of a monarch yesterday, today was the perfect day to read the book Gotta Go! Gotta Go! Ask your child about it!
Following the morning meeting, the students were assigned the task of continuing their autobiography projects for independent work. They then attended a First Grade Town Hall Meeting with Ms. Miller and participated in P.E. During Quiet Time, the students had the options of reading from a collection of books about butterflies on Epic.
The rest of the afternoon was devoted to participating in SEL sessions. During our Closing Circle, the first graders shared which sessions they attended and showed some of the items they created. Storytime, Toy Design, and the Lego sessions were popular SEL Day activities today.
Finally, all appears calm in Chrysalis World:
