Happy Day 99! The Question of the Day was: Can you count to a googol? The boys and girls worked on a hidden picture activity sheet showing a sugar bush for morning work. At different times later in the day, we read the books Sugarbush Spring and Sugar on Snow.
To prepare for one of the activities planned for the 100th day of school, the boys and girls worked together to cover shoe boxes with construction paper. This task takes more time for first graders to complete than you might expect! The boxes will become 100 Word Boxes tomorrow!
The specials classes of the day were financial literacy, civics, and art. The first graders also worked on a Unit 20 spelling practice paper and their field trip books.
During math, we read the book One Hundred Hungry Ants. The students received 100 paper ants and acted out the story during a second reading of the book. We also did this together with ant magnets on the whiteboard. Your child has his/her ants. Ask for a retelling of the story! These photos may help:
