Happy Field Trip Day! The first graders were very excited about taking a trip today. The Question of the Day was: Do you like maple syrup? Morning work involved working on pages in the maple tree activity books distributed yesterday.
We had perfect weather for our outdoor adventure at North Park Village Nature Center. First, the boys and girls explored the nature items in the nature center building. Then, we split into two groups and headed out on the trails to the sugar bush. After drilling a hole and putting in the spile, sap flowed out! Ask your child for details. Finally, we returned to the building for some popcorn and maple syrup before heading back to school. We saw several deer as we drove out!
Back at school, the boys and girls ate lunch and then attended P.E. We then chatted about the morning's experiences and wrote about them for our field trip books. The last activity of the day was to hop into a time machine and head into the future. The boys and girls created self portraits of themselves at 100 years old. These works of art will soon adorn the paper people in the hallway!
Tomorrow is the 99th day of school. We will continue to participate in experiences to get ready for the big 1-0-0 on Thursday.
