The Question of the Day was: Did you bring a shopping list for the holiday market? No matter what the answer, the first graders came in the door ready to go shopping today! They did have to wait until the afternoon however to put their treasure hunting and bargain seeking skills to use. Everyone came away from the experience with gifts for their family members which they wrapped during P.E. time. Thank you to Mr. C for helping with the gift wrapping!
The bonus word on the Unit 11 spelling test was scavenger. Ms. Fink taught the students holiday words in ASL. Ask for a sampling from your child! The boys and girls also received new math books and took a quick show-what-you-know about place value.
Riley shared her Student of the Week board. We learned that she has knows how to ice skate, a dream of hers is to have another brother, and one of her talents is the monkey bars.
During science, we reviewed the properties of liquids and added investigation sheets to our research logs. We learned about South American rain forest animals during social studies. Did you know a sloth takes an entire minute to walk two meters? The students have brought home a sloth to finish coloring, cutting, and assembling so that it can hang upside down somewhere at home.
We will make Flat Stanleys to mail on Monday!
