Happy Monday! The Question of the Day was: Would you like to travel back in time 400 years? Morning work was a vocabulary activity about The Goat in the Rug. As you can see from the photo above, the first grade weaving projects are on display in the hallway for all to see. The boys and girls should be proud of their hard work.
During reading/social studies, the first graders used two Scholastic News articles to learn what life was like for Pilgrim and Wampanoag children 400 years ago. They also saw photos of Plimoth Plantation in Massachusetts. Ask your child to compare his/her daily activities with those of the children in the articles. You can learn more about life in 1620 at Plimoth Plantation by checking out this site.
The first graders also worked in their phonics books, wrote 2 digit numbers in expanded form, and finished their totem pole stories. When they finished their stories, they received activity books about Canada and Mexico .In addition, they received and set up passports to use throughout the year The specials classes of the day were Civics and Library. Ask your child to show you the book he/she checked out!
We will enjoy Taste of North America tomorrow!
