The Question of the Day was: Have you ever written a letter to someone? The writing lesson focused on the friendly letter format. In another writing session, the boys and girls added the first two chapters to their field trip books. We will see a performance of A Christmas Carol at the Drury Lane Theatre on December 4, so there will be another chapter coming soon!
This week's spelling words have the long e sound spelled ea or ee. The spelling test will be on Friday, but the homework packet is not due until Wednesday, November 27. You should see these dates written on today's page in your child's student planner. You will also notice a stamp of North America if the page was completed in the time given for the task.
Grace C. shared her Student of the Week board. We learned that she has sisters who go to college, one of her talents is swimming, and she would like to be a veterinarian when she grows up.
During math, the boys and girls spent time finishing their math tests from last week. We also received our first two pairs of pajamas for our Pajama Drive. We will keep track of our progress as we work toward our goal of 30 pair of pajamas.
As part of our study of North America, we read Turtle's Race with Beaver, a tale from the Seneca people of the Northeast.
The specials classes of the day were Library and Civics. During science, the students were introduced to our new unit of study: matter. They began by investigating bags with a variety of solids in them. We shared preliminary observations with each other and will return to the items tomorrow.
Please check backpack mail for the permission slip to see A Christmas Carol, as well as the December Scholastic Reading Club order forms. There is a greater selection available online.
