The Question of the Day was: Did you enjoy Pumpkin Day? Morning Work carried the Pumpkin Day activities to a second day with a Pumpkin Puzzler. After our morning meeting, it was time for the Unit 7 Spelling Test. The super bonus word was cranium.
Tomorrow is Principal Appreciation Day at Bell. The boys and girls wrote letters of thanks to Ms. Miller for all she does to make Bell School such a great place. We then prepared for our first bus field trip of the year by reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
The boys and girls ate lunch in the classroom before boarding the bus to the Chicago Children's Theatre. We saw a performance based on four stories by Eric Carle. All the first graders were enthralled by the amazing puppets the performers used. Ask your child to describe his/her favorite part of the show!
After a successful first sleeping contest on the ride back to school, the boys and girls enjoyed a snack. We then welcomed our fifth grade buddies back to 104. They helped the little buddies sort, count, and total the UNICEF donations we collected. If their calculations are correct, we have approximately $500 to send to UNICEF. That will help many children in need of the basics for survival.
I am looking for a parent volunteer to take our UNICEF money to the bank to get an official total and check for that amount so that we can in our donation as soon as possible. If you can help us out with this task, please let me know.
Enjoy the long weekend. I will see everyone on Tuesday!
