The Question of the Day was: Are you excited about the Bell Walk? This event was certainly the highlight of the day! The boys and girls received their fabulous t-shirts and then walked, skipped, and ran around the course on the south playground. Ask your child about their Bell Walk experience. Thank you for your support of this fundraiser!
For morning work, the first graders read A House is a House for Me again, this time independently. Afterwards, they came up with their own ideas illustrating the concept of things being houses for things. They began a project using their best ideas. We will keep working on it tomorrow.
During financial literacy, the class continued learning about the differences between wants and needs. They listened to a story about a sleepover at Grandma's house. Ask your child about it! The other specials class of the day was Music.
The science lesson of the day focused on how and why seeds travel. We looked at different seed specimens including Brazil nut shells, an American lotus seedpod, and cockleburs. Ask your child about the agouti and Brazil nuts or cockleburs and Velcro. The boys and girls also completed their models of the life cycle of an oak tree.
We read This is My House during social studies. As we read, we looked at the world map to see where the different houses in the book were located. We also watched a short video about communities and what it means to be a good citizen in a community.
We will walk to the neighborhood firehouse tomorrow!
