The Question of the Day was: Do you know what to do during a fire drill? Today’s morning business involved handing in a math homework paper. The boys and girls then moved on to a spelling practice paper.
The hermit crab project continued this morning. The first graders rewrote their mini-stories on another paper and then created hermit crab artwork to accompany the writing. The final part of the project was reading the stories to Crabby and Shelly. The hermit crabs were very impressed by what they heard! You will soon be able to see these projects on display in the hallway outside the classroom.
Following P.E., Lunch, and Quiet Time, we took a quick look at our ladybugs. One of the ladybug pupae has already become an adult ladybug! After this, the boys and girls interpreted data in bar graphs and used the information to solve problems. The last event of the day was Buddy Time during which the first and fifth grade buddies finished the paper people. These projects will also soon be seen hanging in the hall outside the classroom!
The first graders will receive reading books tomorrow. They will also begin working in their handwriting books.
