The Question of the Day was: Would Ms. Kaim be pleased with how you behaved yesterday? Ask your child how he/she responded and why!
The morning focused on a variety of literacy tasks. The students began with a spelling practice paper. We then moved on to reflecting on the important events of the month. The first graders selected which they wished to include in their memory books and wrote them as their December chapter. After this, we quickly reviewed short vowels and the students took the unit test from their phonics books.
Following recess, it was Buddy Time! The buddies came to the classroom bearing cards and gifts. How ever did they know first graders liked Flat Stanley?! We then all went to the auditorium for an exciting and interactive holiday music assembly. Ask your child about the experience!
After P.E., we combined science and art to make gifts for our families. Finally, we read a Peruvian legend, How Llama Saved the Day, as well as Maria Had a Llama. We also listened to pan flute music while coloring.
The first graders will watch a spooky/funny holiday movie tomorrow!
