The first graders worked with a substitute teacher while I attended a meeting this morning. The morning activities were as follows:
The boys and girls entered the school calmly after lunch recess and were quiet during Quiet Time. They were rewarded with an extra five minutes of Quiet Time! I only received one note about recess problems. That is an improvement from yesterday!
During science, the first graders were provided with sets of small solids and containers to explore. They rotated through stations that had lima beans, pinto beans, mung beans, rice, and corn meal.
The specials class of the day was art. We debriefed our science activity when the class returned to 104. A big take away from this activity was that sharing is not easy. Looking into my crystal ball, I see a book about sharing coming up tomorrow.
Our final activity of the day was reading The Great Kapok Tree to learn more about the South American rain forest.
Tomorrow is Pajama Day!. Several fun pajama and stuffed animal activities will take place in Room 104!
