The boys and girls looked for smaller words in the scrambled up mystery word: dinner. After this, we tackled the Unit 19 spelling test. The super bonus word was transportation. We continued literacy-centered activities with a fun read-aloud: Turkey Trouble.
Scarlet shared her Student of the Week board. We learned that she has been apple picking, she used to live in Connecticut, and she is not sure what she wants to be when she grows up yet.
Following a recess break, we worked on a writing project. Sorry, more information coming soon. I told the class not to spill the beans so I won't either! Then, during math, we revisited even and odd numbers. The students used ten frames and wrote equations with equal addends to represent even numbers.
In the afternoon, the students checked out books from the library. During science, the boys and girls observed several rectangular objects made of different materials. We then completed a chart showing the properties of the solid objects introduced yesterday.
The first graders also continued working on activities related to the article about Tisquantum we read yesterday. Many students today were focusing on character traits. We all ended the day with a video about the history and traditions of Thanksgiving.
We will have a full week of school next week!
I am thankful to have a group of students with such supportive and caring parents. Have a fabulous long weekend with your families. Happy Thanksgiving!
