Happy Monday! The Question of the Day was: Did you see any butterflies over the weekend? The day began with two quick papers about insects. Later, we read the book Butterfly House by Eve Bunting and the students created a group butterfly poster.
Today was Step Up Day. The first graders visited Ms. Murray in 214 while the kindergarteners visited me in 104. This was the first year I have ever had guests for Step Up Day! Ask your child what he/she learned about second grade.
The specials class of the day was STEAM. The students also helped take apart the class books they had contributed to this year and deliver the papers to their classmates. Each child has brought home his/her own binder filled with writing from first grade.
The other project tackled in two sessions today was the First Grade Memory Book. First. we reflected on the events of the last two weeks. The boys and girls then each wrote their own June chapters. After lunch recess, the class checked to make sure their chapters were complete and worked on their illustrations.
Please check green folders tonight for the permission slip for the Taste of the World portion of our End of the Year Celebration!
