The Question of the Day was: Should we release the butterflies today? We had an interesting discussion as students shared the reasons for the responses they chose. Ask your child what he/she said and why!
The boys and girls completed a fact/opinion paper about insects, put finishing touches on their field trip books or completed their butterfly writing project, and took the Unit 35 spelling test today. The super bonus word was graduation.
The specials class of the day was music. We also welcomed a guest presenter to the class. Mr. Qiao, the school's Chinese teacher, arranged for a paper artist to visit various classrooms. The first graders in 104 made penguins with her.
We wrote our final notes and made our final observations about the painted lady butterflies this afternoon. We brought the butterfly habitat out to the Butterfly Garden to release them. Ask your child what the butterflies did when we were outside. After bidding adieu to the butterflies, the boys and girls returned to the classroom to work on something special for their fathers. They also received a painted lady butterfly chrysalis case to take home.
Please check home folders for a note about next week's End of the Year Celebration. Your child also received his/her Room 104 t-shirt order today! The shirts will make their grand debut on Wednesday, June 19.
Have a beautiful weekend!
