The Question of the Day was: Did you enjoy going on field trips this year? Room 104's last field trip of the year took place today, but it was a field trip with a bit of a twist. The friendly folks and animals from Historic Wagner Farm took a field trip to see us here at Bell School!
The first and fifth grade buddies were captivated by the cow, sheep, and chicken visitors. Others were also intrigued by the presence of farm animals on the school playground. Ask your child to tell you something new that he/she learned about the animals today!
Other activities of the day included compound word practice, continuation of the butterfly project started yesterday, and Library class. In addition, I temporarily removed a butterfly that had just emerged from the butterfly habitat so the students could take a closer look at it. Ask your child why the butterfly did not fly off my hand.
We also spent a good portion of the afternoon organizing and checking the contents of our field trip books. Finally, I began reading my favorite book, The Little Prince, to the class. Ask your child to tell you how the story begins!
We will watch the 8th Grade Graduation Practice tomorrow. I also look forward to seeing many families at the Options Department Showcase after school tomorrow. This will be a great time to meet your child's second grade teacher and get a look at student work from all the grades!
