The Question of the Day was: Have you ever visited the Notebaert Nature Museum? Morning work as a butterfly coloring paper. After this, we headed out on our trip to the nature museum. We spent some time exploring the marsh exhibit and the Illinois habitat dioramas, but our main focus was butterflies. To that end, the boys and girls participated in a workshop about monarch butterflies, visited the butterfly haven, and looked for butterflies outside. Ask your child who was changed into a butterfly, what kind of butterfly we released into the haven, and what butterflies or other animals we saw on our walk outside!
When we returned to school, the students colored for a short time and then we read the book Gotta Go! Gotta Go! to follow up on the morning's activities. After this, the students were given a flowchart template to help them write a description of the field trip for their field trip books. You will see the completed book when you attend the End of the Year Celebration on Wednesday, June 19.
