Happy Monday! The boys and girls began the day with a ladybug maze and word unscramble. They were also excited to see that over the weekend some of our ladybug pupae had become adult ladybugs! We will release all the ladybugs later this week.
The super bonus word for the Unit 2 Spelling Test was dentist. We discussed how if you can spell tent from this week's unit and list from last week's spelling unit, you can spell dentist.
We visited the computer lab for the first time as a class today. Ms. Newberry explained computer room etiquette and the students learned how to log on to their computers. They will begin creating Powerpoint slide shows about shapes tomorrow. This is a multi-step project that coincides with our next unit in math: geometry and fractions.
The brassica plants continue to grow. The boys and girls used their rulers to measure the height of their plants in centimeters They recorded this data and other observations in their research logs.. Ask your child how tall his/her plants were today!
During reading, the class filled buckets with berries that had vocabulary words from Blueberries for Sal. Later, the first graders finished sharing their name stories with each other They also participated in their first Second Step lesson which focused on listening to learn. The posters below are the visuals used during the lesson.
We will focus on bar graphs during math tomorrow.
Please check backpack mail for information about school Picture Day.
