Happy no-rain Friday! Finally! The Question of the Day was: Did you enjoy having chicken guests yesterday? During morning work, the mystery object by the Australia table was identified as a didgeridoo. Morning Work was a subtraction/addition puzzle. The completed (or almost completed) coral reef puzzles were sent home.
We started the spelling test before seeing the school play and finished it afterwards. The super bonus word on the Unit 29 spelling test was radiant. The boys and girls were an attentive, albeit squirmy, audience during Charlotte's Web. A handful of the fifth grade buddies are in the play, which made seeing the performance today extra special. Ask your child about the play. You may wish to come back as a family to see the evening show tonight or the afternoon show on Saturday!
Nilah shared her Student of the Week board. We learned that she has swung on a trapeze, she just came back from Hong Kong, and one of her talents is creating art.
After lunch recess, today's Inner Explorer practice focused on noticing our thoughts/feelings and when they occur. After this, the boys and girls learned about the Day 10 developments in the egg. Alina, Ian, and Alim turned the eggs in the incubator. We also learned more information about chickens from the book On the Farm: Chickens by Lorijo Metz. Using this information, the students completed a chart showing what chickens can, have, and are. Ask your child for examples from each category!
The specials class of the day was STEAM. Ask your child how the robots knew what to do!
We have two more computer sessions next week in which to complete the timeline projects for the autobiographies. If students do not finish creating pictures on the computer, they will have to draw pictures on the paper copies they receive.
Be sure to check out the Room 104 dance moves and contribute to the Steppin' Fundraiser to raise money for Bell School. The big dance party will take place next Friday!
