The Question of the Day was: Have you ever been in a time warp? Amazingly, about 15 first graders answer yes to this. I had no idea we had time travelers in Room 104!
During financial literacy, the students built on their knowledge of producers and consumers. The lesson ended with a book about making pancakes and a fun game to create a web showing the connections between producers and consumers.
The trip to Lifeline Theatre to see "The Time Warp Trio" was a big hit. The students loved the action-filled play and all the silly antics from the actors on stage. Ask your child about his/her favorite character and scene in the play. They wrote about this for their field trip books when we returned to class.
During social studies, the students learned information about the aboriginal people of Australia. Part of their culture is the tell of Dreamtime stories to explain why things in nature are the way they are. The boys and girls listened to two such stories, one explaining why the dingo has no voice and the other explaining why kangaroos carry their babies in their pouches.
The final event of the day was another session in the computer lab to work on the timeline projects.
