The Question of the Day was: Have you ever had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day? After some warm-up sentences with spelling words, the boys and girls wrote stories about having just such a day. These are truly terrible stories! The students were really focused on their writing and will have some horrible books to share with you. Ask your child to tell you some of the events he/she included in his/her story!
Inner Explorer focused on paying attention to one's neck. After this, the first graders attended their last art class in first grade. Next week, they will have music once again and meet the new music teacher.
In today's math lesson, the first graders drew quick pictures and recorded two-digit subtraction using the standard algorithm. They also worked on multi-step word problems. During our computer session, many students finished typing the events for their personal timelines. They will begin working on the pictures next time.
As you know, the timelines being completed in school will be part of the first grade autobiography projects. I distributed the project guidelines and checklists to the students and gave them an overview of the project. Please look for this information tonight.
Finally, we used our Map Champ Atlas books to learn some basic facts about Australia.. The boys and girls will be introduced to some of the amazing animals found on the continent tomorrow.
