The Question of the Day was: Have you ever climbed a mountain? Morning work was to color worksheet showing traditional Korean clothing. After this, we watched a brief video clip about a girl who lives in South Korea. We also sorted the items in our daily folders and many items were sent home to make room for new pieces of learning!
During reading, we finished A Grain of Rice. Ask your child how the story ended. Did Pong Lo keep getting rice for 100 days? Why or why not?
We also finished our Junior Great Book in our second reading session. The boys and girls wrote directions for how to get to the Land of Nod. They also looked back at the first three stories in the book to give each of the main characters a listening grade. It was great to hear discussions about the characters and see students looking back in the stories for information to support their views.
Our Inner Explorer practice focused on paying attention to our senses and listening to sounds. The specials class of the day was P.E. We also went to the computer lab and began our life timeline project by typing the description of our first day of first grade.
The boys and girls took the Chapter 4 math test. Later, they listened to Grandfather Tang's Story. Ask your child about the story and how pictures were made with shapes. Tomorrow, the students will use sets of tangrams to make their own pictures.
