Happy Friday! After completing a phonics paper, the the first graders once again worked on projects started earlier in the week. They used teamwork to add more words to their 100 Word Boxes and to add more pieces to their 100 Piece Jigsaw Puzzles. We read the book Millions of Cats.
Zaan shared his Student of the Week board. We learned that his dream is to move to Michigan, he would like to be a doctor, and soccer and baseball are two of his talents.
Specials classes of the day were Civics and Library. During science, the boys and girls received a preview of next Monday's trip to North Park Village Nature Center. They made connections to our earlier study of plants as they learned how sugar maple trees are used to make maple syrup. We read the book At Grandpa's Sugar Bush and the students received activity booklets all about sugar maple trees and the wonderful sweet product that can be made from them.
The fifth grade buddies worked with their first grade buddies in their activity booklets and then helped them understand what being an upstander means. Together they created designs that will be made into buttons to be distributed during Upstander Week at Bell School!
The majority of the time at the nature center on Monday will be spent outside. Please be sure your child is wearing boot as we will be walking on and off the trails! Snow pants would be a good idea if it is cold that day, although we hope that it will be above freezing so that we can see sap flowing out of the trees!
Have a wonderful weekend! Thank you for supporting the Bell Wish List Campaign and Fundraiser!
